Elements of the Genesis Ministries Discipleship Recovery Program
This program is open to committed men, is multi-phased, and includes:

  1. A structured daily schedule.
  2. Mental and physical health evaluations.
  3. Housing, meals, and personal items.  Transportation would be provided if needed.
  4. Clothing needs could be met through partnering with other agencies like the City of Refuge Thrift Store.
  5. Employment outside the facility would be a function of the resident’s time in sobriety and his maturity in recovery.
  6. Program fees would only apply if the resident is employed during a latter program phase.
  7. Daily devotions and work therapy.
  8. Honoring requirements of Probation/Parole.  Submitting to UA/Breathalyzer testing.  
  9. Involvement with a Christian Church and mentor, and with groups like Pure Word, Celebrate Recovery, etc.  Development of an individualized relapse prevention program shared with a church accountability group.  This can be accomplished by working with a Genesis Process counselor.  Relapses would be used as opportunities for refining relapse prevention programs for committed residents instead of criteria for expulsion.
  10. Competent Biblical instruction in areas like
    • Essential beliefs of the Christian Faith,
    • Christian identity (what’s it means to be a Christian, to know God, to desire God, to mature),
    • The Christian world view (Sharing the 12 sessions of the Truth Project is an example),
    • Spiritual warfare,
    • Being a godly man, husband, father,
    • The dignity of work, providing for others,
    • Accountability, responsibility, forgiveness, honesty, submission to authority, leadership,
    • Serving in and with a Christian Church, charity, nurturing relationships
  11. Life and Education/skills:
    • Understanding addiction and relapse,
    • Employment and computer skills,
    • Hands-on creativity skills like carpentry and gardening,
    • GED/educational goals, connections to the business community,
    • Management of finances, exercise and recreation.
  12.  Independent living.  This includes meaningful employment, life goals, reconciliation with family, and growing in a Christian community.

A key part of this program will be to teach and example the Biblical model of a man being a provider, protector, and mentor for others, especially his family.  IAlthough some stumbles may occur, the successful program graduate will continue to grow outside the Genesis living environment as an participating member of a Christian community.
